    Ministry of Health and Family Welfare : Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY)

    RSBY_Pic1Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana(RSBY) was launched by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, to provide health insurance coverage for Identified Beneficiaries in the Identified sector. In order to provide cashless health insurance cover to persons below the poverty line, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India has initiated the project of issuance of Smart Card based Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana. The Families enrolled themselves for  getting a smart card containing their fingerprints and photographs. This enabled them to receive inpatient medical care of up to Rs 30,000 per family per year in any of the empanelled hospitals. Recognizing the need for providing social security to these workers, the Central Government had introduced the Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana(RSBY). Since then, the scheme had 34,285,737 Smart Cards and 5,097,128 hospitalization cases.
